Take Art: Theatre aims to offer support, resources and opportunities to Somerset-based; artists, practitioners and companies; young people and youth theatre companies;  venues and programmers

This may include

• opportunities for professional development through workshops, masterclasses and skillshares;

• opportunities for showcasing, sharing work and rigorous debate about contemporary practice;

• offering support for the making, producing, programming and promoting of work;

• advice, signposting, networking and brokering partnerships;

• orginating ideas and developing new ways of working;

• extending regional, national and international links to bring high-quality work into Somerset;

The terms ‘artist’, ‘practitioner’ and ‘company’ are self-defining, as are the frequently-used labels ‘emerging’, ‘developing’ and ‘established’.

As a guide, we regard an individual or company who is in the early stages of exploring their practice as ‘emerging’ and someone who has at least five years’ professional experience as ‘established’.  We acknowledge that every artist, practitioner and company moves through various stages of development when support may be required.

By ‘Somerset-based’, we mean someone who has made the conscious decision to invest their resources in making, producing or presenting work predominantly for the benefit of people in Somerset.
