Mime, slapstick, commedia, pantomime, clowning. They all rely heavily on the physical side of comedy for effect. Buster Keaton, Tati, Norman Wisdom, Cirque du Soleil, Lee Evans… they all use it, but how does it work? What are these: “lazzis, gags, biz” ?? A day with Chris Harris will point you in the right direction. He’ll show you how to turn a comic scene into a riotous one. Students should bring along material that they’d like to work on, preferably learned, but scripts will be provided if necessary.
Chris Harris needs no introduction to theatre pundits in the South West. He is the Doyen of Dames, the King (and Queen) of Codpieces, the Slapstick Supremo. Chris has played the Dame in Bristol and Bath for the last 9 years, as well as writing and directing many of the shows himself. He also tours internationally with his one-man shows that include: KEMP’S JIG and BEEMASTER Chris studied with Lecoq, the Moscow State Circus School and Fialka in Prague.
