Makeshift Theatre & Dance

Makeshift Theatre and Dance is the alter ego of Brian Tasker, a graduate of the School of Playback Theatre in New York and a practitioner registered with the International Playback Theatre Network (see www.playbacktheatre.co.uk), has trained extensively at the School of Biodanza and is a BACP accredited counsellor. Brian has also trained in the improvised theatre of The Fool with Frankie Anderson and also Michael Loader and is a widely-published haiku and tanka poet.

Brian is the creator of Dancing your story: deepening emotional awareness through dance and movement. Dancing your story is inspired by the passion and emotional connection of Biodanza combining a sequenced series of exercises with mindfulness to enable you to observe your own experience in a particular way, while immersed in the moment – in the dance. Dancing your story follows the intention of Biodanza: the integration of emotion and the nurturing and strengthening of identity both as individuals and through the group. This is combined with the honouring of the personal story that accompanies us on our journey. Dancing your story was initially designed to train actors in emotional and physical awareness and Brian has travelled to Lithuania, Hong Kong, the Ukraine with this workshop in addition to working with groups in the UK. Next workshop January 31st in Stroud email or call for details.

Makeshift Theatre is committed to promoting Playback Theatre as a theatre of neighbours (as its founder Jonthon Fox described it) through the shared connection of personal story through the medium of open workshops in the Stroud area. email or call for details.
