Here is a sonnet I wrote about actors;
Actors are a sweet law unto themselves,
Hard-working,shy,humble about their trade.
Shedding skins, they dip and dive and delve
Within the person that the writer made.
This something that they do, is understanding
The inner life that moves within a soul,
Manifested in a look – expanding
Into voice, and stance, and costume. Making whole.
The audience pulled upright with a jerk
Learns of life through another’s story
They devour with greed the actor’s work
Whether it be comic, grim, or gory.
The actor’s craft is just another job
If skilled, they thrill, and feed the hungry mob.
