In 2005 five professional theatre companies, based in Gloucestershire, collectively received a grant from Arts Council England to help secure their future. The companies, known as Gloucestershire Theatre Network (GTN) obtained the grant following a bid made by Theatre Gloucestershire (formerly the Theatre Production Office) and supported by The Everyman Theatre.

In 2009 GTN became a network of professional theatre companies and has grown from the original five to include any professional theatre company based in Gloucestershire. Currently there are 21 companies. The Everyman is still committed to supporting both the established and emerging theatre companies as part of its extensive county-wide ReachOut programme.
