"They have used a technique I have never seen before... pocket projection... onto walls, people and backing sheets. This innovative technique sets this company apart from so many out there."
Skye Crawford, London Fringe Review, 2009.
Here at Filskit Theatre we like to play... with projections, images, lights, speech and sound. We combine ensemble performance with micro-projections and storytelling to create a unique blend of show.
We devise our shows as a collective and build through images and game play. We have to date made performances suitable for instillation (The Living Canvas) and children (Snow White), all of which are accompanied by workshop programmes, for both schools and theatre groups.
In 2011 we have started to collaborate with others, most notably The Unicorn Theatre, based near London Bridge, where we involved in the Emerge Project - an Research and Development opportunity that helped focus our work for children. We are now also in collaboration with Quirkas Productions, who are assiting us on the bringing Snow White to audiences around the UK.
We also write reguarly for www.ayoungertheatre.com a website design to support young proffessionals in the arts. Look out every other Thursday for the highs and lows of making it as a young theatre company.
You can also take a look at our website, follow us on Twitter/Facebook or join our mailing list - for up to date information from the world of Filskit Theatre.
The Living Canvas Project is Filskit Thetare's first steps into their research between the live performer and recorded image.
Within this project the focus has remained on the building of character through the use of projection that is controlled within the performance space by the performers.
This work has culminated in a festival length performance "The Living Canvas".
We are finally finished our devising and research for our latest piece - Snow White.
This show for children aged 7+ and their families is told through the eyes of the Queen's henchmen as they are ordered to kill Snow White.
Using our usual blend of images, projection, action and text we hope to take you an exciting journey.
