The aim of Creative Ecology Wiltshire is to provide a fit for purpose strategic arts development service able to foster an entrepreneurial, vibrant local arts ecology.
The core purpose of Creative Ecology Wiltshire’s service is to:
- Foster an ecology in which practitioners can live and work
- Empower the ecology to problem solve for itself
- Broker far reaching collaborations to help produce exciting projects and products that would not otherwise be possible
- Advocate the value of creative development work in the wider ecology
Driven by a small team of Creative Producers, it provides the opportunity to develop an entrepreneurial engine of creative potential within the Wiltshire locality and beyond to the benefit of audiences, artists, participants and promoters alike.
CEW is the new single theatre and dance development organisation that formally was TheatreWorks and Wiltshire Dancing.

Beyond Play
A performance lab for artists and makers

Salisbury Arts Centre
Beyond Play is a new performance lab for professional artists to experiment and improvise through sharing skills and learning. It will be an open studio to try, test, share and learn through creative play and tasks. Participants will have the opportunity to lead and be led in the sessions, trying out different tools for generating material for contemporary live performance and gaining access to a diverse range of expertise and experience.
Beyond Play is that secret place you have been looking for to be free of rules, inhibitions and agendas. So if you want to go beyond play and develop your performance practice while connecting with others this is what you have been searching for.
Beyond Play is a CEW (Creative Ecology Wiltshire) initiative and is partnered with Salisbury Arts Centre. The sessions are free for the pilot project but must be booked due to limited places and participants should try to attend as many sessions as they can. It is open to all theatre, dance and performance making professionals in and beyond Wiltshire.
