Alison Neil

ALISON NEIL has been writing and performing her one-woman plays since 1989, touring to hundreds of theatres, festivals, stately homes and community venues. Her first play, BELLA - THE STORY OF MRS BEETON proved hugely successful, and toured until 2002. Her other plays are all currently available: THE SIXTH WIFE (the story of Katherine Parr), TRULY YOURS, C.B. (the story of Charlotte Bronte), THE SHAKESPEARE LADIES CLUB (tales of Georgian London), THE JUST-WILLIAM LADY (about Richmal Crompton) and LIVING IN THE LIGHT (the story of Hildegard of Bingen). The plays can be performed either in theatres or in almost any indoor venue. We can provide the theatrical lighting, sound, scenery and costumes to turn your hall into a "theatre-for-the-night". Many of Alison's shows have a one-hour version as well as the full-length version. BELLA - THE STORY OF MRS BEETON and THE JUST-WILLIAM LADY were adapted for BBC Radio 4 and first broadcast in 2001. Alison won the Drama Association of Wales' 2008 Best Play by a Welsh Based Writer for her one-act play "WHERE THERE'S A WILL". This and other plays are available for performance by amateur or professional companies. Her earlier career included national tours and West End performances in Tom Stoppard's ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD (as Ophelia) and LITTLE LIES starring John Mills (as Beattie Tomlinson). Other theatre work includes BLITHE SPIRIT (Elvira), REBECCA (Mrs De Winter), THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST (Cecily) amongst many others. She has also worked in radio and television. Alison has a second career as an historical researcher and writer for events such as VE Da in Hyde Park, the Queen's Golden Jubilee Pagean, and many visitor attractions including the Smugglers Adventure in Hastings, Rotterdam Avontuur, Tunbridge Castle, and the Shrewsbury Quest. www.alisonneil.co.uk
